The Niabi Zoo Foundation White Rhino Campaign

Our mission is clear: Working today to assure a better tomorrow for all living things. Every decision we make here at Niabi Zoo brings these words to life in real and measurable ways. We do this though our engaging education programs, our involvement and support for many conservation commitments, and our choices of habitats to develop and share with our guests. Everything Niabi Zoo works towards goes back to that simple sentence, down to how we landscape our grounds and what we offer in our gift shops. We advocate for all living things by sharing the natural worlds most inspiring and pressing stories, by participating in and leading conservation initiatives that provide real benefit to plants and animals here at Niabi Zoo and in the wild. Every day we fulfill our mission. We fulfill our promise to do what we can to make a better tomorrow for all living things. COVID19 has forced us to a lot of thing different in order to keep both our animals, staff, and you safe. In order for us to keep our mission going as well as push forward with our White Rhino Campaign, we are going to need your help. Can we count on your bid.

White Rhino Campaign

A Place to call home...You have a unique opportunity to help bring a new, important species to the Quad Cities. This campaign will give White Rhinos a home at the Niabi Zoo. Your generous support is needed to make this exciting plan a reality. Major renovations to our Bactrian camel area (soon to be the White Rhino area) along with renovations to the areas the camels will be moved to will need the support of our entire Quad Cities zoo family to make a reality.

Together we can make a difference

Did you know that in the early 1900s there were fewer than 50 southern white Rhinos left in the world? Today, thanks to the tireless conservation work of zoos, and field biologist, the population has grown to over 18,000 animals! While this is a great success it is still nowhere near the numbers these magnificent animals had at one time. With continued captive breeding successes and strong protections in place for their natural habitat, the future of the Southern White Rhino looks bright. Sadly, things have not gone so well for 2 other species of Rhino, with the Northern White Rhino and the Western Black Rhino both becoming extinct in the last 10 years.
